The Beauty of Meaninglessness

Why does everything have to MEAN something?

In my experience in my own life, I’ve found that attaching meaning to everything has gotten me into a lot of trouble. Assuming someone’s motivations? Ditto. So, why do we do this? We are brought up so much in our analytical brain, that from a very young age we are not only taught to find meaning, but encouraged and expected to do so. In academics, math, science yes – this can be a great skill to have, and it is needed. Even in literature, comparative analysis is key to understanding what works and doesn’t work (on a multitude of levels).

But when it comes to matters of the heart, something may “Mean” something, but that may put us further off from the love and passion goals we have. By love and passion, I’m not just referring to relationships of the heart such as a marriage; I’m referring to your life’s mission, the things you are most passionate about, the things that make you love your life, and….love yourself. Moreso, if we attach meaning to something and we are wrong about that, we can end up making poor decisions, leaving relationships or opportunities that would have expanded our consciousness and our heart.

We can choose to live either by Fear or by Love. Fear is a very low vibration energy. Love is a high vibration energy. The more we live in Fear, the more people, places, and things we tend to attract that will cause us fear. And, the more we will actually look for what’s wrong, what we should watch out for, etc, which only results in us building walls. Walls keep out the bad (or perceived bad), but…and this is a big one….THEY ALSO KEEP OUT THE GOOD.

Love, a higher vibrational energy, has a much broader attractor factor. Love is expansive energy. This is not new. Look at any icon of Jesus, Mary, or similar representations in other religions, and you’ll see light or sparks or lines coming from the heart energy center. In fact, to bring it more modern, the HeartMath Institute actually studies and measures the heart energy, which they’ve found can full the room or even an entire building, or city- from one single person who is fully in their heart-centered energy, often through meditation. When we vibrate at Love, we attract more people, places, and things that show us love, love us, and that we can love.

Energy vibration acts a lot like a radio wave frequency. If you tune your dial to 96.5 FM, you’re not going to hear 101.3 FM. If you tune your dial to fear-based thinking, you’ll get fear-based attractor factor. Tune your dial to love-based thinking and you’ll get a lot more of what you love.

But, if we are always looking for meaning or attaching meaning, we are vibrating in fear-based thinking. While thinking is obviously a good skill to have, it can also become harmful when we use ONLY thinking and analytics to live, make choices, etc. We often forget we have the option to be lead by love and to LEAD with love.

So what holds us back? I find with my clients, they are lacking Courage. I’m not saying they are not courageous, its just that they haven’t really thought about how they think, and what they think about (especially unconscious thoughts). They do not see the Mind-Body Connection, and let’s face it – we can’t fix what we don’t see is broken. Mainly, most of my clients have simply not realized that they even had a choice. Living in a family, going to school, belonging to communities – most of which live out of fear based motivations – have made it so this condition is indoctrinated and conditioned right into their fabric. So, working with a coach who is love-based, and has walked the walked, will definitely open their eyes to a different way of “being” in their life. Knowing that coach has already made that shift helps the client to know that this is indeed possible.

I encourage everyone to stop making everything have to MEAN something. Practicing Meaninglessness is not just an option, but is a beautiful way to show up in your world. Have the courage to take the leap of faith!
